UNIT 9: An accident

Something happened a couple of weeks ago which was real test of honestly. I was with a friend and we were shopping while we found and envelope with 1,000euros inside it.
'Someone lose this envelope with 1,000euros insite it!!!' said my friend.

'And what do we do now?' I asked to him.

'Remain to us' answered him.

'No. That's wrong. We have to bring to the police.

'Ok, ok... Let's go.' he said.

In the end, nothing happened about the envelope. The police was very good about it because we did the right thing. It was a pleasant experience and I felt that I'd done the right thing.

MY TRIP TO ITALY

My trip to Italy was amazing. We visited a lot of places and we had a lot of fun together.

09/03/2015

On the first day, I woke up at 4:30 am, because I had to be on the school at 5:30 am. We went to Aeroport del Prat in Barcelona by bus and we took a fly to Milà. When we arrived in Milà it was around 10:30 am. We took a little bus which took us to the Lago di Garda. We had lunch in a small restaurant next to the lake and after that, we went to Sirmione, a very little town. I liked the little shops. After that we took the bus again and we went to Verona. There we visited the Arena and we walked to the streets. We went to a chic restaurant and we ate macaroni. It was delicious! We return to the hotel and we went to bed early.

UNIT 8: A happy ending

This last year, thing weren't going too well for me. I'd arrived to Australia and the airport had lost my packs. I was very angry. Then I got my new residence near the beach. The residence was amazing but my room partner was really unsociable. I tried to speak to her but I couldn't. The next days I was very upset because I hadn't known anyone.

Everything changed for me the day I saw a tall boy with dark hair and green eyes. Fom that moment my world had changed, he was perfect. He walked next to me and he asked my name. His name's Nil and he's from Girona! Then I started meeting him on the café or on the big gardens of the campus. One day, I met him and he gave me flowers and then he asked me to be his girlfriend. I answered yes!

These months, I feel much happier. Being with him by my side had made me see that sometimes you are happier if you are positive. If I hadn't moved to Australia, I'd never met him.

UNIT 7: write an opinion essay

The government plans to introduce a new law which will mean that students would have to go to school on Saturday mornings. In my view, this would have some negative consequences.
First of all, I think that this plan would be bad accepted by the students because nowadays they go to school five days a week and do six hours of class ecery day. Although they are with their friends, at the end of the day it's really tiring. When they arrive home they can't do what they want because normally they have homework to do so they finally spend more than six hours studying. I also think that it would be unfair because young people use the weekends to do things they like and can't do them during the week because they don't have time. Introducing another day of class would mean that they have less time for themselves considering that they already spend five days of the week going to school.

If the aim of the government is trying to increase the level of students, I don't think they should do it that way. It seems to me that there's a better alternative: they could organize learning activities at the weekends encouraging students and making them have fun.

Bee behaviour mapped by little tracker

A tiny new tracker designed to monitor bee behaviour is being tested by experts in London. It is made from left over pieces of tech and is based on tracking equipment used in warehouses. Making up the tracker is a specially designed computer chip and aerial - which has been created to be thinner and lighter than those used to track bigger insects. Around 50 have been made so far and the idea is to use them to track the bees as they move around in the wild. Experts are hoping that this new technology will allow scientists to have a better understanding on why the number of bees are declining.

The big movie preview: The Giver

Out: October 29
Director: Phillip Noyce
Stars: Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Taylor Swift, Brenton Thwaites

The buzz: Based on another teenage dystopian novel, but one written 20 years before The Hunger Games and which is now required reading in many British and US schools. It concerns a future in which society is happy, but only because most people are kept in a state of ignorance. Jonas (Breton Thwaites) is one of a chosen few who guard the knowledge kept secret from others. It's not the most obviously filmable of novels, but with Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep on board it's got serious acting talent.

My name’s Laia and I’m fifteen. I live in Banyoles, Catalunya. I live with my mum Teia, my dad Jordi and my brother Adrià. I’ve got a good relationship with my brother and I think that’s OK.
I love rowing and I practice it every day. I like photography, meeting my friends and going to the cinema too. I hate being bored!
I go to Escola Casa Nostra. The school is next to the lake so I go there by bike with my classmates. The teachers are very clever and strict. My favourite subjects are Science and Biology. Someday I’d be a great dentist.
